County Engineer Darren Capps, along with the Covington County Commission, has deemed it advisable to keep all county roads closed until further notice. In consideration of this decision, all county offices will remain closed all day, Friday, January 31, 2014. This decision was made to protect county employees and citizens from travelling on potentially unsafe, and closed, county roads. “Black Ice” (undetectable frozen spots in roads) will still be a safety concern until temperatures rise considerably. All county offices will re-open for business at normal hours Monday, February 3, 2014. Citizens needing to renew vehicle tags expiring in January are encouraged to visit covingtonprobate to renew tags on-line.
