County Job Fair To Showcase 61 Vendors & 1,960 Positions Sixty-one companies from across Northeastern Pennsylvania offering 1,960 full-time, part-time, seasonal and internship job openings are participating in the second annual Lackawanna County Job Fair at PNC Field, which is scheduled for Thursday, June 12, from 1 PM to 5 PM on the ballpark’s Club Level. The event is free and open to candidates of all experience levels and work categories. “Our first job fair was a tremendous success. Simply stated, it helped to put people back to work,” said Commissioner Jim Wansacz. “Everyone benefits from an event like this. It is programs like the job fair and our economic development initiatives that help to lower our unemployment rate and enable people to take care of their families.” “This is just a great program,” explained Commissioner Corey D. O’Brien. “The more people who are working in our community, the better it is for them, their families and our economy. It gives them buying power, which has a multiplier effect for every sector of our area – retail, leisure, business and construction. The job fair is a win-win for everyone. “ “This is great for our area. I am very pleased to see the number of firms joining forces with us and providing a wide-range of jobs that people can interview for, and hopefully secure, to help their families,” noted Commissioner Patrick M. O’Malley. Prior to the job fair, Pennsylvania CareerLink Lackawanna will be conducting a free seminar on “Preparing For A Job Fair” and also offering resume review advice. The program will be held on Friday, June 6, at 10:30 AM and 12:30 PM in the Entrepreneurial Launch Pad located on the first floor of the Scranton Electric Building, 507 Linden Street. On the day of the event, the Scranton/Wilkes Barre RailRiders are making suites and other private meeting rooms available for the companies to conduct on-site interviews. Representatives from the Pennsylvania CareerLink Lackawanna will also be on hand to help people with resume preparation and to offer general job advice and interview information. The general public is urged to bring their resumes, to dress professionally and to be prepared to be interviewed. According to Brian Loughney, the County’s Deputy Director for Human Resources, the vendors in the job fair were not charged for the exhibit space. This is a total community service activity.
