County Officials Recognized 7/1/13 (Deming) – Two Luna County officials were recently recognized for achieving certifications. Detention Administrator Matthew Elwell has received the national designation of Certified Jail Manager through the Jail Manager Certification Commission, by authority of the American Jail Association. The certification was achieved through the successful completion of an experiential background application and a four-hour electronic examination. And Facilities and Maintenance Director Billy Ruiz recently graduated from the New Mexico Association of Counties and NM EDGE College. EDGE stands for Education Designed to Generate Excellence. Ruiz’s Certified Public Official designation was achieved through the successful completion of 54 hours of education and an accepted essay on government service.
