County Social Worker Sentenced to 10-Years Prison Galveston August 21, 2013 GALVESTON - State District Judge John Ellisor this morning sentenced former county social worker Sylvia Ann Villarreal, 47, to 10 years in prison and ordered her to reimburse the county auditor $50,000, upon her conviction of felony theft by a public servant. Sylvia Ann Villarreal, 47, of Hitchcock was convicted of the theft of $55,520 from four wards of the county, leaving some of completely broke as they lie on their deathbeds. The reimbursement to the country was for some of the funds the county reimbursed victims of the thefts. Judge Ellisor allowed Villareal to remain free on bond until Monday when she is to report to the Galveston County Jail to await transfer to the Texas Prison System.
