County of Kauai and Kauai Dept. of Water wrote: Water conservation request issued for Waimea, Kalaheo, Hanamaulu, Anahola WAIMEA – The Department of Water (DOW) has issued an immediate water conservation request until further notice for Waimea, Kalaheo, Hanamaulu and Anahola. Residents and businesses are asked to limit water consumption to essential uses only, in order to avoid a water outage. The DOW’s electronic and radio communication control systems that automatically monitor the areas’ wells, pumps and water storage tanks are not working properly. Water conservation is requested while DOW personnel work on resetting the control systems of all affected areas. Essential water needs include cooking, bathing and toilet flushing. Water conservation measures include refraining from car washing, turning off automatic sprinklers and outdoor irrigation systems, and using water wisely indoors and outdoors. The DOW thanks all residents and visitors for conserving water during this time, and for their patience while repairs are being addressed. Updates will be sent as new information becomes available.
