County’s crop yield lower than expected SNOW HILL—With the summer months drawing to a close Greene County’s farming communities are recovering from a cropping season many consider disappointing. Greene County’s Cooperative Extension’s Agriculture Agent Roy Thagard gave details about the county’s lackluster cropping season. Although the county did make gains in a few select areas, overall the season wasn’t as good as it could have been. “It started as a very wet and cold spring that delayed planting for a few folds,” Thagard said. “We usually get underway by March 20. This year we were two weeks late. It seemed like everything was two weeks late, from cotton to produce.”
