Couple more items for your Get Home Bag. Fire/starting tools and tender. Pick up a couple of dic cigarette lighters. They are inexpensive and dependable. Also pack some fire starting tender. I prefer the web firebrand, but in a quick do it your self substitute a cotton ball soaked in petroleum jelly. If you need to start a fire, these two items will get you 98% of the way there. Next item quality multi tool. This tool should have a solid knife blade, a sawblade, pliers, flathead and crosspoint drivers, and wire cutters. When you need one of these tools, no substitute will quite do the trick. Many will add a fixed blade knife as well.
