Courage is a weird word. We use it for vastly different situations, as if it was all the same thing. A young Marine has courage, up on the front lines, in a firefight. An old person has courage, seeing the inevitable end of life on the horizon. People find the courage to try something new, others find the courage to face a disease. These are NOT the same emotions. Some people say Eskimos (I realize this is not the preferred word) have many names for snow. English needs to develop multiple words to replace courage. I, for one can attest that I can manifest this thing called courage in some facets of life, but find myself woefully inadequate in others...
