Courage is not the absence of fear but acting even though you feel afraid. Fear is the great thief of our relationship with our horses. Horses are strong powerful animals capable of hurting us without intent. This potential often paralyses our interaction with our horse. Too often we are told by others not to be afraid and that we will not achieve anything until we get rid of our fear, so we do not act because we still feel fear. It is not the presence of fear that limits us but rather the lack of courage.
