Courier Press: Lately, David Gough has taken an interest in our community. I have corrected erroneous statements associated with me through email directly to David. Those statements have not been corrected. Furthermore, on March 20th his column again dealt with WIFN. I havent been able to include the addy so for those of you that have read his latest column Open government is good government let me place here my response emailed to the editor. With regard to your recent columns regarding Walpole Island I am perplexed and confused by your statement, “Putting walls and barriers between us just doesn’t make sense.” We are two communities living side by side, separate and distinct. You should also recall that through an email to you I corrected an erroneous statement associated with me regarding the forensic audit. The forth coming presentation on the forensic audit is not the audit that I have been requesting. This meeting is designed for members of the First Nation and rightly so. The Citizens of Walpole Island will hold accountable our elected officials and Aboriginal government. To imply that we don’t is insensitive, undemocratic, and sensationalist at best. We have not put up walls and barriers we are simply paddling our own canoe.
