Courtesy Darul Ifta Message from Mufti Ebrahim Desai (Hafidhahullah) Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam is reported to have mentioned: ุงููููุงุณู ู ูุนูุงุฏููู ููู ูุนูุงุฏููู ุงููููุถููุฉู ููุงูุฐููููุจู People are like mines of gold and silver. [Sahih-Muslim] Every human being, being the creation of Allah is most valuable. When one detects water and other valuables such as gold etc. underground, the stone and sand of such a ground is removed to reach the water and unearth the valuables contained in it through which mankind enriches himself in various ways. Similarly, every human being has an inherent recognition of Allah and the love for Allah in his heart. The nafs of a person, like the rocks and stones of a ground has covered that inherent love of Allah and suppressed it. When a person learns how to control his nafs, he removes all the evils contained within himself, like how the rocks and sand is removed. He will then discover the embedded recognition and love for Allah in his heart through which he will enrich himself in gaining proximity to Allah and becoming the friend of Allah. In mining the ground, special machinery is used. In the process of mining, first rocks and dry sand is mined. As the drill goes deeper, muddy sand is mined until the drill strikes water and other valuables underground. Likewise, in mining the embedded treasure of Allah within oneself, the most effective way is to link yourself with pious people. Stay in their company and benefit from their conduct and advises. The relationship with ones spiritual guide is like a drill that helps drilling deep in oneself to realize the best outcome. In the course, there will be sacrifices. One may have to see the rocks and stones and bear the sight and smell of the dust. With perseverance, eventually you will reach your objective, the recognition and friendship of Allah. This is the essence of Islah and Tasawwuf. Once you gain the friendship of Allah, there is no comfort and enjoyment equivalent to that. If the kings of the worlds understand the enjoyment of such love, they will abandon the luxury of their couches and hunt for such love. Make a sincere intention, work hard and persevere. Pay the price to gain the recognition and true friendship with Allah. Remember, you are a mine with great valuables in you. Know your value. Mufti Ebrahim Desai.
