Courtesy Late Major #DhyanChand, Hockey emerged as the only symbol (game) through which #India challenged the European (Western) hegemonic supremacy in Pre- independence era. He is the first sporting icon from our country to rise on world scene. He name was vehemently ignored for Bharat Ratna by the Congress Govt in a country of cricket maniacs for cheap vote bank politics. An Indian field hockey player, who is widely considered as the greatest field hockey player of all time from any country. He is most remembered for his extraordinary goal-scoring feats, in addition to earning three Olympic gold medals (1928, 1932, and 1936) in field hockey, during an era where India was the most dominant team in Hockey. Known as “The Wizard of Hockey” for his superb ball control, Chand played his final international match in 1948, having scored more than 400 goals during his international career. 29th august, 2014 is Dhyanchands 109th birth anniversary which is celebrated by Govt. Of India as National Sports Day. I request PMO India Narendra Modi & Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Sarbananda Sonowal to honour Late Major Dhyanchand with Bharat Ratna as being the greatest ever sporting legend born in India in any sports including #Cricket & #SachinTendulkar.
