Guests will have an opportunity to sample several brands of Scotch, hear about the history of some of the great distilleries and learn the difference between Scotch, Irish Whiskey, Bourbon & Canadian Whisky. Foodstuffs will accompany the scotch, which will allow you to explore all the tastes inherent in these brews. In between times, enjoy music played by Sherry and Don Ladig of Dunquin, along with bagpipes played by Andrew Fox. Sherry and Don Ladig , who have presented mid - 19th century music with the New Pearl Buttons at the LeDuc House, welcome Andrew Fox on bodhran as they play Scottish repertoire for your whisky tasting pleasure. Sherry began her professional career playing ragtime piano at Pracna on Main, composes for everything from string quartets to the Minnesota Mandolin Orchestra (for whom she is composer-in-residence), and believes there are no boundaries in music. She believes There are no boundaries in music and cross-fertilization invigorates new music. It is my pleasure to bring listenable and engaging music to new audiences. Don plays a variety of wind instruments, including wooden flutes, Irish whistles and Scottish smallpipes. Don has played Irish music in Dunquin since 1991 and nineteenth century American music in The New Pearl Buttons since 2004. Andrew Fox, an educator at the LeDuc Historic Estate, started playing bagpipes at age 13. He plays with the Macalester College Pipe Band in St. Paul where he is the Pipe Major of the beginner ensemble. The pipe band recently traveled to Pleasanton, CA and won the grade 3 medley competition in the San Francisco Caledonian Scottish Games.
