Courtesy of Guy Garrett via Tony Gregory .The Obama Administration (particularly the President, his Press Secretary, the Department of State and the Department of Defense) continue to use the favored language of the enemy when describing this army. They use the acronym ISIL (meaning Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant). What Americans need to understand about this official labeling by the President and his operatives in the government is that the term Levant, which is little understood by most Americans, describes the historic territory that extends from the Euphrates River valley (in Iraq) westward to Turkey and southward to Egypt. It ignores the democratically oriented state of Israel as a separate political entity and lumps it in with a supposed vast Islamic state. It is a way in which the President can subtly deny the existence of our ally, Israel, in his attempts to identify with the Islamic nations of the Middle East. ISIL, then, is a false acronym describing this enemy. It does not include any of the area south of Syria and most certainly does not include Israel! It is just more dishonesty by this Muslim President! Be aware when you hear it what he is trying to do. The military does not have the option to use a more appropriate acronym. The President controls their language.
