Covenants are in fashion despite the fact the most do not work. The covenant is the result of a negotiation between parties with similar influence and clout and often the result of the impotency of both to dominate each other on one or other aspects. Human beings too often break their convenants when conditions change, we are unstable and not trustable. That´why human being cannot make conventants with God, just promises or vows. God instead can and make covenants with humankind freely and unilaterally to those who want to embrace it. You and I are not God, even if we pretend consciously or not to have control of our lives. The only aspect in which we do actually have control is decision making. Because of that we can make promises or take vows before God but we will never be in the position to negotiate a covenant with God. Of course, there will be always someone who try to manipulate God, to symbolically twist His arm so He can accept our own covenant. Christian media is full of that. However, that´s is just vanity that will be blow by the wind. Meditating at my daily office on promises. God does not ask me to do them, but I had decided to commite myself to become more like Him every day despite my limitations. God grants me grace and strength to be a follower of just one face and fulfill with integrity my promises to you. "Don’t make rash promises, and don’t be hasty in bringing matters before God. After all, God is in heaven, and you are here on earth. So let your words be few. Too much activity gives you restless dreams; too many words make you a fool. When you make a promise to God, don’t delay in following through, for God takes no pleasure in fools. Keep all the promises you make to him. It is better to say nothing than to make a promise and not keep it."Ecclesiates 5:2-5
