Cracking trip out of Salcombe yesterday on Anglo Dawn 3 skippered by Chris Roberts. Went out on the inshore reef for a bit of bassing and general reef fishing with the Holsworthy Sea Angling Club. It was flat calm all day which made a change, so a good chance to try out my light lining tackle. took my Graphite leader sparda ex 2 to 4 oz. with Abu revo winch reel, 12 powerpro braid, and john from lure heaven lent me a graphite leader japan sparda nvovo serie oceano 1 to 3oz rod to try, I put my fin nor inshore reel to this with 10lb nanofil line. We had 9 species for the day and best bass went 5lb with smallest at 3lb, but no bass for me, I did have the other 8 species. I fished savage gear 42gm and 23gm sandeels and fiiish black minnow 40gm mainly fished by themselves when possible. rods handled the fish fine , biggest on the sparda ex was a ling of 12lb 3oz and plenty of Pollack to the 10lb mark. Best fish for the sparda nvovo was a ling around the 7lb mark and a handful of Pollack to 6/7 lb. also had cod 5lb, cuckoo wrasse, mackerel, pouting, and some good size red gurnard. cheers Paul We hold monthly sea angling meetings at the Old Market Inn Holsworthy every second sunday of the month 8pm, if you fancy a trip see you there or mail me.
