Craig McEwan today signed a managerial deal with Dave Coldwell. The Edinburgh middleweight, 32, has been out of the ring since dropping a unanimous six-round decision to Dashon Johnson in New York 12 months ago. But he is now targeting a spot in Prizefighter at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool in February — a Matchroom-promoted show that is topped with a vacant WBC International light middleweight title clash between former world title challenger Brian Rose and America’s Carson Jones. He took to Twitter to announce the news, writing: “New Year. New start. New manager @davidcoldwell [Dave Coldwell]. Team McEwan back in the game!” And Coldwell himself seemed thrilled at the appointment as he wrote: “Delighted to be the new manager of @CraigMcEwan13 [Craig McEwan]- lets get the ball rolling for 2015! #boxing” “No doubt a good middleweight name for @PrizefighterUK would be @CraigMcEwan13 [Craig McEwan] – we want it – but it’s up to @EddieHearn [Eddie Hearn] – ask him! #boxing ,” Coldwell continued. Up to now, the eight names have not been finalised for the Prizefighter line-up, but fans, the fighter and his newly-appointed manager alike all want to see the southpaw, 22-4-1 (11), in the one-night tournament.
