Crash course on toxins (free radicals) and what happens when they enter the body: (Important in determining the root cause of ALL chronic disease.) --------------------------------------------------- (Science 101 for reference) Proton = positive charge electron = negative charge atom = neutral or 0 ---------------------------------------------------- a toxin is made up of free radicals or atoms that have a net charge of 1. they are missing an electron and desperately seek to pull an electron from another atom. When toxins, free radicals, enter your body - they steal electrons from the atoms that make up the cells of your body. And now the atoms that lost an electron have a net positive charge just like the free radical / toxin. So the free radical has a net positive charge and is an electron stealer. When the free radical steals an electron from the surrounding atom, the atom becomes highly unstable. In an effort to rebalance itself the unstable atom begins bombarding healthy atoms trying to steal one of their electrons. The ending result is that the atoms begin to change from stable structures to free radicals changing the cell structure and becoming an abnormal cell. This is known as oxidative stress or free radical damage. The same thing happens when you peel a banana and in 5 minute it beings to turn brown. The good news is that we have things like antioxidants that reverse the process by donating electrons. Vitamin C is an example of a good antioxidant. Pollution is a good example of a free radical. Antioxidants help to some extent. However, they do not remove the toxins that have accumulated in the system. Over time these toxins will build up more and more and you will need more anti oxidants to achieve the same result. Eventually the build up of toxins will become so great that you will experience chronic disease. Therefore the removal of toxins is paramount in order to either prevent or reverse the disease. Chronic disease is a consequence of oxidative damage. Damage cells come from free radical damage and free radicals are created and generated by toxins. The damage that takes place is the free radical colliding with your genetic predisposition and there in lies the determination of your manifested disease.
