Crater of Diamonds to host night photography workshop By Waymon Cox Greetings from the Crater of Diamonds! On Saturday, August 17, I will be hosting a workshop on night photography from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in the enclosed pavilion at Crater of Diamonds State Park. During the workshop we’ll cover the basics of nighttime digital photography and light drawing, followed by hands-on camera practice! All participants should have a working knowledge of manual DSLR camera settings (including shutter speed and aperture), wear comfortable walking shoes, and bring a DSLR camera, tripod, and flashlight (no "point-and-shoot" cameras, please). Dark-colored clothing and a remote shutter release are also helpful but not required. Admission to the workshop is $20 per person, including a $10 registration fee that is due by August 10. Space is limited! Call Crater of Diamonds State Park at 870-285-3116 by August 10 and speak with a park interpreter to register. Come meet other photographers, hone your skills, and enjoy an evening of fun and creative photography during Night Photography in the Park! Portions of the search area are now plowed weekly.
