Craving the Water from the Well 2 Samuel 23:15 NKJV) And David said with longing, “Oh, that someone would give me a drink of the water from the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!” David had a craving for water from the well of Bethlehem (House of Bread) familiar to him in the proximity of the place where he keep his fathers sheep to the place he was anointed by Samuel and to take this depth of craving to something even deeper it was the place that a prophetic blessing was spoken over his family. The water in this well not only would have been sweeter for him to drink but would have reminded him of home you see David was surrounded by the Philistine army, and him and Israel was engaged in a horrific battle. The enemy wants to stop us from drawing from the depth of purpose of the wells of salvation in our lives but he is a defeated foe. Isaiah 12:3 KJV) Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. John 7:37-38 NKJV) 37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” The first thing I would like to look at would be the craving that came from the DNA of prophetic water of purpose in David’s life which will and should always call to us in times of spiritual conflict in our lives for David this would have been a calling to Bethlehem (House of Bread) from these prophetic words that was spoken by the elders in the gate Ruth 4:11-12 NKJV) 11 And all the people who were at the gate, and the elders, said, “We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman who is coming to your house like Rachel and Leah, the two who built the house of Israel; and may you prosper in Ephrathah and be famous in Bethlehem. 12 May your house be like the house of Perez, whom Tamar bore to Judah, because of the offspring which the LORD will give you from this young woman.” These blessings flow all the way into King David and to the ultimate blessings of the waters from the wells of salvation that we have in the King of kings Jesus Christ. I would like to challenge your thinking in the fact that David didn’t just ask for any water he ask for the water from the well of Bethlehem (House of Bread) perhaps David was still spiritually pregnant with purpose from his prophetic DNA in asking for this water David might not even understood his longing just had a craving for some water from his home. Perhaps there is a craving or longing in you for something from the wells of salvation you don’t know why you want this water but you do it’s because of your prophetic DNA you see when you where Re-Fathered into the kingdom of God you become pregnant with hope and destiny. Allow this craving from the new man to be stronger than the one of your old man. The new man will always crave waters from the prophetic DNA from the wells of Salvation. My hometown is Stillwater, Oklahoma I love going back to Stillwater there is something in my heart that senses home until a couple of years ago then I sensed something that had even a deeper calling of home and that was when we were Blessed to go to Israel from the time we stepped off the plane in Tel Aviv there was something of the great depth of home that called to the very depth of my purpose that this was really my home. As I type this that longing to be there stirs again for Israel you see it all connects us to the spiritual wells of salvation we find in Yeshua.
