Craving the Waters of Victory 2 Samuel 23:15-16 NKJV) 15 And David said with longing, “Oh, that someone would give me a drink of the water from the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!” 16 So the three mighty men broke through the camp of the Philistines, drew water from the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate, and took it and brought it to David. Nevertheless he would not drink it, but poured it out to the LORD. The well of Bethlehem seemed to be calling to David not only from prophetic that had been spoken over his linage (see yesterdays post, but also from the place where he had seen God perform through him to protect his father’s sheep.1 Samuel 17:34-37 NKJV) 34 But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep his father’s sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, 35 I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it. 36 Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.” 37 Moreover David said, “The LORD, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, “Go, and the LORD be with you!” The wells of salvation are calling us to the place of victory from our past to bring us victory in our current onslaught of the enemy we face today. Isaiah 12:3 KJV) Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. You see when we were saved by faith through Amazing grace we gain a great victory at the wells of salvation in which we are cravings from this places of victory in our life through Christ as we remember them in our current place of battle we find the joy of the Lord which is our strength (ref Nehemiah 8:10) to draw from the same resource of the wells of salvation for the battle to day and proclaim in the faith in the living waters of Christ “The LORD, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” Yeshua stands on the last day of that great feast and proclaims he is that water of victory. John 7:37-38 NKJV) 37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” That great feast referring to the Feast of Tabernacles which is important to know so that we can understand that Yeshua’s timing was correct because this feast had the water libation ceremony connected to it so he declares himself to be the living water. The ceremony itself was, apparently, quite a sight to see. I’d like you to imagine a whole parade of worshipers and flutists led by the High Priest in his finest garb to the pool of Siloam. He is carrying two golden pitchers. One is for wine. He fills the other with water from the pool. As the flutes continue to play, a choir of Israelites chants the Great Hallel Psalm 113-118 as the whole procession heads back to the Temple through the Water Gate. A trumpet sounds as the priest enters the Temple area. He approaches the altar where two silver basins are waiting. He pours wine into one of the basins as a drink offering to the Lord and water from the pool of Siloam into the other. The whole ceremony, with the parade and the flutes and the singing and dancing, was such a joyful occasion that one of the ancient rabbis wrote: “Anyone who has not seen this water ceremony has never seen rejoicing in his life.” You and I have been invited to participate in the flow of waters of victory only found in the depth of craving in Yeshua our Lord and Savior!!
