Crazy!! A few months ago, my urge to ship owning was on the rise. I needed to own a ship or anything that felt like a ship. My instincts indicated I at least needed to own a small boat that would feel like a ship for purpose of touring the ocean during the weekend. The idea was to board at Mama Ngina drive near Kenya Ferry Services and paddle all the way till Jomo Kenyatta Beach near Bamburi otherwise referred to as pirates. That would be my route though occasionally I would have to sail to Mtwapa and Kilifi routes during long weekends. On the subsequent Saturday afternoon and upon leaving office, I made a trip to South Coast where I met a group of old men curving boats from logs of wood. Such would be easily affordable for me and order period would also be reasonable. Negotiations started and it was apparent my journey to ship owning had commenced. It would not cost me much to have them curve a wooden boat / fishing like boat for myself. I paid the deposit fee and was advised my vessel would be ready within a month. Thereafter, I proceeded to a reputable restaurant for a refreshment and to reflect. I visualized myself as a vessel owner, an adventurer, potential fisherman and a sea explorer. I couldnt wait to see myself on the ocean for a voyage from Mama Ngina to Pirates and back. I concluded would not only be adventurers but very healthy undertaking. I knew it would seem me get chances to manage my growing weight as well as retain my six pack. Hahahahah....wait, I cant even recall the face or name of the old man I paid the deposit to curve the boat. I remember he had no phone and I never took any contact or means to reach him. I also had not checked Kenya Maritime Authority/other stakeholders requirement on ownership and movement of small vessels along our sea territories. Probably this is why I still dont own a ship?
