Crazy Hazy Po-Po Repo... Jan. 14 Hazleton incidents Hazleton police issued releases alleging the following. Anyone with information can contact police at 570­459­4940 or dial 911. ■ A 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer, parked in the area of Second and Alter streets, was hit by an unknown vehicle sometime between 5 p.m. Monday and 11:51 a.m. Tuesday. ■ A tan glider and a tan table were taken from the rear of a home in the 100 block of South Laurel Street. The theft was reported Tuesday morning. Police alert residents to phone scam Hazleton police are warning residents about a phone scam. Officers said the scam occurred Jan. 7 when a man called a resident in the 500 block of Seybert Street and requested payment for unpaid taxes. The victim’s personal information was provided over the phone for verification and then the caller requested that prepaid credit cards be purchased and the card numbers be provided over the phone. Police said the public should be aware that the Internal Revenue Service doesn’t request information or payment over the phone and that any suspicious phone calls should be reported to police immediately. No personal information, including Social Security numbers, addresses or bank account numbers should be given over the phone. Police investigate armed robbery Hazleton police are investigating a Monday robbery. The incident happened in the area of Grand Central when a newer model, maroon minivan approached the victim around 7:50 p.m. The driver of the vehicle brandished a firearm and pointed it at the victim demanding the victim to empty their pockets. After the incident, the vehicle fled east. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 570­459­4940 or dial 911. State police probe incidents State police at Frackville issued releases alleging the following. Anyone with information can contact police at 570­874­ 5300. ■ Christine Ritter Cusatis, 28, Mahanoy City, became enraged and punched Esther Berger, 29, Mahanoy City, in the face Monday at 10 a.m. on state Route 61 south, one mile north of Saint Clair in New Castle Township. Cusatis, who will be cited, was being driven to Pottsville by Berger when the incident occurred after Berger told her she could not drop her off at the door of her destination. ■ Sara E. Welsh, 30, Tamaqua, will be cited for driving at an unsafe speed for road conditions after she lost control of her vehicle on an ice­covered Route 895 west in the area of Mountain Road, East Brunswick Township, Monday at 8:50 a.m. Her vehicle exited the north berm and hit a utility pole. She and her 3­year­old passenger from Tamaqua were not injured. Her vehicle was towed. ■ Jeb F. Martin, 26, Tuscarora, was traveling north on Catawissa Street in Schuylkill Township on Sunday at 5:25 p.m. when his vehicle left the road and traveled into an embankment on the east berm. Martin wasn’t injured, and his vehicle was towed.
