Crazy, Ive presented at small conferences before, spoke at my college graduation... and in general, I think I communicate well; whether written or verbal. But today was my first real conference presentation, as a working professional. Totally different vibe, presenting material to dudes who have been in this industry longer than Ive been alive. Its a humbling experience to have these guys, who you view as masters of the universe - starring at you while you discuss technical information, the whole time, assuming they are ripping apart every statement you make. I mean seriously, literally every 2nd presenter was either US-EPA or California Air Resources Board. All PhDs. To think that Ive worried about this for the last few weeks - and the actual 20 minutes flew by like it was 2 minutes. Next up, a Hong Kong conference much larger in June... already getting butterflies!
