Crazy start to today. With more than 700 accidents in queue, Suffolk County had to request mutual aid ambulances from the City of New York. Traveling from Northport to the Port Jefferson Ferry this morning took almost two hours for a normally 35-40 minute drive. So many accidents along the way, it really looked like something from a movie. People hurt, people standing and slipping beside their cars. Fire departments stretched beyond their abilities, we saw Suffolk County Police cars transporting injured people to hospitals. We also saw Suffolk County Police officers who abandoned their cars and began walking to the many car wrecks before them on the road ahead. I dont remember being surprised by this much black ice before. Glad to know that all friends and family fared well today with no accidents or injuries to report.
