Creamy Chocolate Pie Recipe Ingredients 1-8 or 9 inch Almond nut crust (see below) Pie Filling 1/2 cup water 1 tablespoon cornstarch 1 (14 ounce) can chocolate sweetened condensed milk 3 egg yolks, slightly beaten 2 tablespoons butter or margarine 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract Almond Nut Crust 1/4 cup unsalted butter cut into cubes 1/4 cup sugar 1 cup of finely ground almonds 1/2 cup all purpose flour 1 Tablespoon almond or vanilla extract Whipping Cream for the topping. Directions The Crust 1. Cream the butter and sugar until smooth. 2. Add the nuts and flour - mix well. Add almond extract and mix until the dough forms a ball. Divide and press the dough evenly into a springform 8 inch pan. 3. Make the crust just a little over 1/4 thick. 4. Allow the dough to rest in the freezer for 30 minutes, or in the refrigerator for 1 hour. 5. Preheat the oven to 350˚F. Put the tart shell on a cookie sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden. 6. Let cool before adding the pie filler. The Pie Filling 1. In a small bowl, stir together water and cornstarch so it is smooth. 2. In saucepan, combine sweetened condensed milk and egg yolks; stir in cornstarch mixture. 3. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly until thick and bubbly, about 12 to 15 minutes. 4. Remove from heat; stir in butter and vanilla extract. 5. Spoon into pie crust. Chill 3 hours or until set. 6. Prepare the whipping cream and put on top. 7. Refrigerate if there are any leftovers.
