Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. (Psalm 51:10-12) Have you ever done something so bad that you thought it was beyond any forgiveness? King David wrote todays Scripture after a scandalous affair, a murder he orchestrated, and the loss of a child. He had some serious issues! David felt desperate and without hope, thinking he was too far gone for Gods love and forgiveness. But then he remembered the kind of God he served, and hope sprang up in his heart as he realized that God has the power to renew, restore, and rebuild the human heart. You too may sometimes feel that you are beyond Gods reach, but that is not true. He is always ready to redeem and forgive. As David found out, you too can once again find joy, even after devastating sin or consequence.
