Creative Futures Freelance Project Co-ordinator and Arts Awards Advisor Fee: £2200 including travel for 24 – 28 days or equivalent Working from the week commencing 18 November 2013 - 31 March 2014 The Spring Arts & Heritage Centre in Havant would like to appoint a freelance Project Co-ordinator for the new Creative Futures Project. The Creative Futures Project Creative Futures is a new project funded by Hampshire County Council that will see The Spring Arts & Heritage Centre engage up to 500 young people from across the Borough of Havant in creative and cultural activities. There will be particular focus on young people at risk of becoming NEET (not in education, employment or training). The primary beneficiaries of the project will be young people age 11 – 16, but with a particular focus on ages 13 and above. All project participants must live or attend schools or youth centres in the Borough of Havant. Creative Futures is a project that will see The Spring Arts & Heritage Centre work in partnership with Motiv8, the youth services provider in the region and will engage young people outside school hours. The partnership with Motiv8 means that the majority of the participants will be young people who currently engage with Motiv8’s work. The Creative Futures project will include: The creation and facilitation of a steering group of 8 young people, who will advise the project, and the members of which will work towards Arts Awards Practical creative workshops held in locations across the Borough (to engage a footprint of 150 young people) Opportunities for young people to see professional performances for free (engaging an audience of 100 young people) A careers event that signposts 200 young people to the careers available within the arts, including college courses. By the end of the project we hope that 500 young people in the Borough of Havant have: Been inspired and learnt new skills through engaging in creative workshops Members of the steering group have achieved an Arts Award Been excited and inspired by live performances Learnt more about The Spring and feel comfortable in the space Learnt more about the career opportunities in the creative sector and pathways to these Been inspired to gain experience in the arts by joining a youth theatre, undertaking voluntary work, planning a creative work experience placement, volunteered within the cultural sector or undertaken creative activities themselves. Excluding staffing and management costs there is a budget of £7,590 for this project. Due to the funding for this project all work must be completed by 31 March 2014. Project Co-ordinator Role The Project Co-ordinator will work for the equivalent of 24 - 28 days between November 2013 and March 2014 at flexible hours for a fee of £2200 including travel. The Project Co-ordinator will be line managed by the Project Manager (The Spring Arts and Heritage Centre’s Director) and will receive support from The Spring’s staff team. The Project Co-ordinator will work remotely, although a hot desk will be available to use at The Spring on occasions. As part of the role The Project Co-ordinator will be required to: Set up, administer, facilitate and monitor the project steering group of young people Be the Arts Awards Adviser and manage the steering group going through the Arts Award process Organise, market, and be a staff representative at the project workshops Organise, market, administer tickets at staff performance visits, at The Spring and elsewhere work alongside Motiv8 to ensure all events associated with the project are properly staffed and fall within the policies and procedures set out by The Spring and Motiv8 Organise, administer and manage the careers signposting event. Work with the Project Manager to work within the agreed budget. Take responsibility for the project evaluation, including working with participants and the steering group to gather feedback and writing the final project report Be the first point of contact regarding the project and between The Spring and Motiv8 Person Specification It is essential that the Project Co-ordinator: Has experience of running youth arts projects Is confident and used to working with young people, and especially those at risk Has strong administration and financial management skills.
