Creative Tip: learn to pitch and present your work with passion. Always have a two line description of your project ready to go. This is the single most valuable skill to have in the creative world. In both the independent and corporate space the ability to pitch trumps artistic abilities and even ideas. Ive been in this industry for over half my life and if you can combine good ideas with above average pitching skills you will succeed. Not being able to sell your idea verbally in front of a group or decision maker is a huge disadvantage. Ive seen guts who can draw like angels get passed over because they couldnt define what made their idea great in front of others. Start by refining your message. Believe in what you are pitching. Always speak conversationally. Pitch to family and friends. Always see pitching as an opportunity to convert someone not as an obstacle. Read Save the Cat. It will help you refine your concept. If you cant pitch your idea in two lines chances are there is a problem with your idea.
