Creatives, please share... I explain why... Streaming music companies now erode the living wages of recording artists, musicians, music publishers, recording engineers, music CD designers, and many other types of music industry professionals. Great talent is being squeezed out of the music industry as unsuspecting consumers enjoy music on websites such as Spotify and Pandora without having to incur standard access charges. While these companies profit from sharing music freely and advertising -- those who make all of the featured music possible now suffer most as their royalties are sacrificed to an assortment of streaming music demigods. This unprecedented decline in royalty earnings resulting from streaming music cannot be recouped by increased publicity and touring opportunities: its not a feasible, just or fair alternative to require our seasoned, elderly performers to return to performing on stage again so as to earn a living wage. At the very least, lets not let our elderly musicians be thrown by the wayside after long, successful musical careers while technology advances and royalty profits decline. It is time to do your part in saving Americas music industry. Make Congress pass the Songwriters Equity Act and put an end to the royalty robbery now in progress on music streaming websites. Future generations will thank you for making your voice heard at this pivotal point in US music history.
