Credit where it is due: I was just sitting with another Foster - TopicsExpress

Credit where it is due: I was just sitting with another Foster parent of Developmentally Delayed individuals when I asked Have you ever noticed that in our line of work there is a high majority of LGBT people, I wonder why that is? We surmised that perhaps because of personal experiences of prejudice they might be more willing to serve others, their hearts maybe more apt to be softened to the needs of the disabled realm. It struck me that this week one of my gay friends is volunteering at a Paediatric cancer camp, another put on a charity event for a dog shelter and countless volunteers take our guys on vacation to give us full time Providers a much needed rest FOR FREE! I do not want to be one to judge but here is my observation: while so many sit in Churches for hours today LEARNING about what Jesus taught so many others are out there in the trenches DOING what Jesus taught & a high ratio of these wonderful volunteers are of the LBGT community, this is what goes unnoticed by the general population. I am not gay & I am not against church goers, Im just saying sometimes I wish the world was more like those who are often down trodden, the pre judged and alas sometimes despised....because for me those are MY kind of people. And the moral of this story is: Be ye doers of the Word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. James 1:22
