Cricket: West Indies vs India tests likely this November! From the Express... West Indies could play a Test series in India in November as the Indian cricket board (BCCI) is keen to stage a home series as a likely farewell to star batsman Sachin Tendulkar. The ESPNcricinfo website reported yesterday that the BCCI had planned a series of at least two Tests, and that the Indian board claimed to have received an email from the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) confirming its interest in the series. It was reported that the series proposal has been sent before the working committee.“The tour could see either two Tests and three ODIs, or three Tests,” the article quoted an unnamed BCCI official as saying. The Tests may take place in Kolkata and at Tendulkar’s home ground, the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.Tendulkar has played 198 Tests, and this series would provide the two matches, at home, he requires to reach his 200th.If the series goes ahead, it could affect India’s tour to South Africa from November 21 to January 19. That tour so far includes two T20s, seven ODIs and three Tests. At 40, Tendulkar is the only batsman to hit 100 international centuries. The BCCI is also concerned about a possible dip in its revenues for the current financial year, since their limited overs series against Australia is their last planned outing for the rest of the year.““That would have meant lesser gross revenue, and profits as a result, than the last year’s,” the website quoted a BCCI insider as saying. “And it is something that none of the stakeholders in Indian cricket would want.”
