Crime Prevention Reminders: Vehicle Burglaries Recently, there - TopicsExpress

Crime Prevention Reminders: Vehicle Burglaries Recently, there have been vehicle burglaries while the vehicles were left unlocked. Some of these vehicles have had valuable items taken (electronics, military gear, wallets, etc.). This is another reminder about locking unattended vehicles, especially during the holiday season. Also, do not leave valuable items in plain view. Some vehicle burglary suspects look for vehicles that are unlocked when committing this crime. Burglarizing an unlocked vehicle takes less time and the suspect usually goes undetected. Since there is no evidence of forced entry, the victims do not know a crime has occurred until they find items missing. To prevent more vehicle burglaries, please lock vehicle doors when the vehicles are left unattended. Remove or Conceal Valuable Items: • The first option in securing valuable items would be to remove them from the vehicles. • When storing valuable items in vehicles, place them out of sight. The best location is in a locked trunk. If you don’t have a trunk, place the items in compartments (lock compartments if possible), under seats, or even under coats or covers that may be in your vehicles. Do not leave these items in plain view. Officer Natalie Hall (Public Information Officer) Clarksville Police Department 135 Commerce Street Clarksville, TN 37040
