Crime Prevention Tip: Yesterday a Palatka resident reported a person approached his residence and identified himself as an employee of AT&T. The person provided our resident with information on a “special deal” for phone service. The resident provided his personal information to sign-up for the service. It was later determined the person was not an employee of AT&T and had collected the personal identification information of our resident including their Social Security number and date of birth. Please be alert to these types of scams and always confirm a person’s identity if they claim to represent a business. If you are solicited and have any doubts about the person or company requesting your personal information call the Palatka Police Department at 386-329-0115 or the non-emergency dispatch center at 386-329-0800 for assistance.
