Crinkles needs to begin treatment for Cushings as soon as possible. Dr. Campos has provided the information regarding treatment. Crinkles will take 2 Vetoryl 10 mg tablets orally twice daily to begin ($45 per 30 tablets) and then will need to be tested again 7 to 14 days after starting therapy, ($195 test). It will have to be repeated until regulated. We need to raise $480 to get Crinkles through the first 30 days of medication and tests. Hopefully that will allot enough time and testing to properly adjust his dosage. For those who dont know what Cushings is: The endocrine system is the collective system of organs that control hormones in the body, one of which is the cortisone hormone, responsible for protein and carbohydrate metabolism in the body. When a disorder of the body causes an excess of cortisone levels in the bloodstream, the metabolic process is hampered, leading to gastrointestinal disorders and hypertension, amongst other bodily disturbances. This condition is medically referred to as hyperadrenocorticism, and it is one of the most common endocrine disorders to affect dogs. Dogs with hyperadrenocorticism lose body condition and develop severe problems such as hypertension, congestive heart failure, and diabetes mellitus. Other complications include increased susceptibility to infections, blood clots in the circulatory system (thromboembolism), and central nervous system signs including behavioral changes and seizures. Crinkles can die if he is not treated. I will pay for the first 15 days of treatment. Crinkles will still need $435 after that. Please donate what you can.
