Crista asked, So this is a bit weird because Im actually USING this program, but Id like to get others opinion of MathHelp-dot-com (formerly YourTeacher-dot-com). I took my daughter out of school for 6th grade. That year we did Teaching Textbooks 6 and 7. I liked that I wasnt teaching her (we struggle with direct teaching from me because our personalities are so different). But it was a bit cheesy for her and she cut a lot of corners. Math is not a strong subject for her, so she does NOT need to be cutting corners. So this year we signed up for MathHelp-dot-com. Its one of Cathy Duffys top picks and it seemed to have what we liked about TT, without the cheese LOL My daughter says she likes it well enough and she is doing okay. Until recently I thought it may be too easy because she was making REALLY high scores and math is not her thing. But now she has hit a section that she is not sailing through. Its just hard for me to tell if we should stick with this or not. Its quite expensive. She normally doesnt like work on the computer, but for this she says she would like to stick with this as opposed to me teaching her (I do help her here and there, but we REALLY clash...she takes offense at everything I say, like if I say its wrong, somehow Im the bad person instead of just the person trying to teach her how to do it - this is something we struggle with in general, not just in math). Anyway, if others agree it is a good curriculum, Im glad to pay the price, I was just wondering if anybody else had thoughts on their experience with it. Maybe someone with kids more open to talking with them, so they know more about how their child does with the program? I know that is sad, but it is what it is.
