Crocodile -This low budget film in 1996 was the debut of Kim Ki-duk 김기덕 as a director. With peculiarity of characterizations, characters portrayed without personal or social establishments, with immoral and cold violence (against women, but not against animal), with impractical progressions and surreal climax, he signs his trademark signature with his very first film. Aspiring filmmakers who are obsessed with character establishments and social/personal relevance must see films like these, so that they can break the shackles of their mind. Right from his first film, he has thrown away the conventional guidelines, and stamped a peculiar style of his own. Yes, it was not greeted by the mass, and it will never be .... so what ? Cinema needs such makers.
