Description Purpose of the position: To provide leadership and development to our crop inputs business team in order to ensure and to develop a sales and marketing strategy and culture within the organization. This will be accomplished by market segmentation for input business, services’ portfolio definition, technical agronomical knowledge etc. Responsibilities: Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of seed/fertiliser/crop protection products useage in the market place, including brand, manufacturer and competition market shares. Stay abreast of trends and developments in product development in order to anticipate potential future supply and demand effects for products. Based on that market knowledge, develop a competitive product portfolio to offer to farmer customers. The portfolio should meet farmer needs but be balanced in terms of being of a manageable size and offering attractive margin opportunity. Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers, including discounts, payment and delivery terms to minimize costs and enhance margins. Liasing with marketing function, develop marketing materials to help sales staff effectively promote the product portfolio. Make appropriate use of materials available from manufacturers. Provide up to date information to the sales staff on product availability and pricing. Actively work with sales staff on individual queries / customer situations to support them getting business. Be flexible and reactive to the market situation, but remain the guardian of the margin. Provide technical support to the sales staff so that they understand the attributes of the products in the portfolio. Utilise manufacturer resources to provide technical training. Assist sales staff on individual deals where necessary. Coordinate with Operations and Trade Execution to develop stocking plans for product at Cargill sites and deliveries to customer. This should be balanced to ensure product is available where and when it is needed so that we can provide superior delivery terms to our customer whilst remaining cost effective. Wherever possible, but without compromising levels of service, deliveries should be made direct from manufacturer to customer. Actively monitor, manage and control costs to enhance profitability. This includes delivery costs, stock financing and warehousing costs as well as stock levels to minimize inventory carry over and/or write offs due to deterioration of quality. Actively manage risks in the business with special focus on forex to ensure margins are protected and there are no surprises. Ensure that administration of contracts, deliveries and invoicing is up to date. PNL estimate to be made in time with the BU deadlines, communicated to the appropriate BU management and reconciled with actuals before reporting deadline. In conjunction with Product Line and Sales management, develop annual budgets and throughout the year monitor actual performance versus budget levels. Stay aware of any relevant national regulations around product line and ensure Cargill remains compliant.
