Cross Notes, Monday, August 26 - When Jesus began His earthly ministry, He attracted large crowds of people who had heard of the miracles He had performed, and wanted Him to do something for them. Listen to the Bible in Matthew 4: 23 – 25, “Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people. News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed; and he healed them. Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea and the region across the Jordan followed him”. Jesus also attracted the attention of the Scribes and Pharisees; they were the religious leaders and teachers of His day. They didn’t like all the things Jesus was doing or what He was teaching. They saw Him as a threat to their way of life. They considered Jesus to be a “law breaker” and from the very beginning of His ministry, they sought ways to silence Him. Are you following Jesus today, or trying to keep Him silent, so that He doesn’t threaten your way of life? (From the sermon “Raising the Bar” Cross Roads Baptist Church August 25, 2013)
