Crowd question for those with a special interest in Education in Alberta: When you have a child in a classroom who has special educational requirements, these children have access to funding from the Alberta government to support their inclusive instruction in classrooms. How would you, as a tax payer/voter/parent/community member expect these funds to be reported, accounted for, and ultimately serve the needs of the child and the classroom as a whole? Would it surprise you to know that the schools are under NO OBLIGATION, whatsoever, to use these specially designated funds to support the individual for whom they have been applied? And that parents are not allowed to have a report of how the funds that were designated in their childs name were used in the budget? What is the expectation of accountability in this system? Should there be one? Because what we have now isnt working.
