Crowdfunding rocks. Sit/Stand/Walk desks are life savers. Ron Wiener rocks. Hes one of my favorite entrepreneurs since... we first met. In 1990 or so. Now, hes rockin the market with a really badass new desk. Ron is married to a pediatrician. Really cool gal. Who appreciates good health. Ron used to be a hardcore bicyclist. Until a NY driver decided to cut that activity short. So being a startup guy with a wonky back AND trying to get and stay fit, well, thats been a challenge. (hey you startup folks out there - you know EXACTLY what I mean here). Since weve met, Ron has been on the cusp of: 1) The Domain industry (SnapNames) 2) The Printing industry (PrintBid) 3) Jetstream (accessories for Pilots) 4) Earth Class mail (24/7 redistribution of your mail. Really cool system he developed). 5) EquaShip - The 4th alternative to USPS/UPS/Fedex. As you can see, Ron doesnt do ANYTHING small. He revolutionizes industries. And builds killer teams. Funds. And scales like a maniac. Over the last couple years, Ron has been pioneering the treadmill and standup desk industry as a single reference for everything desk-ish. Now? Now hes found the weaknesses in the industry, and designed radical improvements that make your workstation more of a Playstation. (Yeah, I said that. Go ahead, Sony, sue me!) It would be awesome if you could visit, throw a buck or three at his Kickstarter campaign (or, drool: opt for the Omega Everest electric desk...;-). And know that youre now officially in business with one of the most intensely driven and cool Startup guys on the planet. One who will no doubt go down in history as a true pioneer. Lastly: if you want to see Ron in action, no problem. He and his former company were featured in a multi-part TV series called Startup Junkies. If you want to see what its REALLY like to raise money as a startup AND keep the wheels on your new business at the same time, there is not a more accurate portrait.
