Crowds flock to new Apple store in E. China’s Hangzhou The huge crowds that flocked to the grand opening of the West Lake #Apple Store in #Hangzhou, the capital city of east China’s Zhejiang Province, have once again proved how popular Apple products are among young Chinese. Starting from early Saturday morning, throngs of eager customers were spotted queueing outside the Hangzhou Apple store, one of the companys largest retail outlets in Asia. It is the 14th Apple store on the Chinese mainland and covers an area of nearly 3,000 square meters. To celebrate its opening, Apple CEO #TimCook tweeted early on Saturday, writing, “Starting something new in Hangzhou, China!” As Cook seldom uses his social networking account to promote new Apple Stores, the Hangzhou location, where China’s tech giant Alibaba is based, seems significantly important to the company in further extending its hands in the Chinese market. Apple earlier unveiled its plans to open five new retail stores in China before the Chinese #NewYear, showing the company’s aggression of cashing in more during China’s annual shopping frenzy.
