Crown Prince Launches New Award To Boots Government Services ( Dubai Government 📅 10-12-2014 ) His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, has attended the second special ceremony for the Hamdan bin Mohammed Programme for Smart Government organized by Dubai The Model Centre (DTMC), a subsidiary of the General Secretariat of the Executive Council, at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The ceremony honored the winning leaders, teams, individuals, services and initiatives in the awards’ 18 categories. On the sideline of the event, Shaikh Hamdan launched a new initiative aiming to boost government’s services and encourage productive cooperation among various government entities and provide proper work environment furnishing for joint creative solutions and services. The newly launched prize will be awarded to the winning team in the 2015 Hamdan bin Mohammed Programme for Smart Government. The move is aimed to provide new government services to all segments of society and give departments a chance to compete as a team rather than a single entity, and reflect the importance of coordination among government bodies. Commenting on the event, His Highness said: “Developing joint services and creating new ones require positive mode of thinking that overcomes challenges, encourages cooperation between various departments and engages the public. Individual efforts could achieve excellence while positive collective efforts create miracles”. The categories of the programme include Best Public Service, Best New Public Service, Best m-Government Service, Best Shared Service, Best Public-Private Partnership, Best Internal Cooperation, Best Co-production with the Public, among others. UAE nationals, residents and visitors were asked to vote for the best government services in Dubai for 2014. The winner of the Public Opinion Award for Best Initiative will be announced based on these votes. Secretary-General of Dubai Executive Council Abdulla Al Shaibani said: “We would like to congratulate the winners and indicate their role in implementing the leadership’s vision to transform the services of Dubai Government to the smart model. Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoums launch of the Smart Government Initiative is an incentive for government agencies to compete in the development of services and become more aware of the importance of keeping pace with the latest developments, large projects, and future global events taking place in the Emirate of Dubai”. “The winning team of the ‘City Builders’ race, which is a platform for supporting and encouraging new services, will be honored at the Hamdan bin Mohammed Smart Government programme award ceremony in 2015.” Commenting on the new award, Al Shaibani said: “Under the guidance and support of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the award was launched to be part of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Programme for Smart Government, which in turn supports government agencies efforts to implement smart initiatives and organize programmes in this area”. Director of DTMC Eman al Suwaidi said: “DTMC is taking serious steps to engage everybody in developing the government’s services. All the candidates and winners today played significant role in building the city, and all the voters contributed in this. Our ambitions are big, and this is only the beginning”.
