Crows greats taste premiership success Crows great Michael Doughty capped off a successful return to junior club Reynella on the weekend, involved in the Wineflies A-Grade premiership team. Doughty was among the best players as Reynella 12.11 (83) defeated Morphettville Park 8.10 (58) by 25 points at South Adelaide on Saturday to claim the Southern Football League title. The 34-year-old vowed to go back to the Wineflies after calling time on his decorated 231-game AFL career at the end of last season. He celebrated his long-awaited SFL premiership success with young son, Max. But the hard work isn’t over for Doughty. A player agent for Elite Sports Properties, Doughty is about to enter the busiest time of the year – the AFL trade and draft period. Doughty isn’t the only former Crow to celebrate premiership success in a local league this season. Spearheads Scott Welsh and Ian Perrie helped steer Encounter Bay to Grand Final victory over Willunga in the Great Southern Football League. The Bays 14.11 (95) beat Willunga 13.5 (83) by 12 points to claim their first flag since 1996. Welsh, who kicked four goals in the decider, topped the League’s goalkicking this season with 57, while Perrie, won the 2013 GSFL Mail Medal for best player in the competition.
