Cruise Tip for Beginners - Tip 3 First things to do when you are board. (1) Mark your cabin door with something youll remember - a ribbon, a magnet, a wreath - just something - it makes it a heck of alot easier finding it when you come waddling back at 3am. (2) Visit the Dinning Room to check out your table assignment. We normally always ask for a big table (up to 12) so we meet new folks and have fun running into each other during the trip. If you dont like your table, see the Maitre D then! Dont wait. Table mates can make or break your cruise. Ive broken break with cowboys, rednecks, transvestites, movie starts, CEOs, athletes, bi polar witches and more. (Remember, if youre not having fun, change tables or just get used to buffet lines). (3) Sign up for your casino card (might be some perks). (4) Avoid anyone with a tray full of umbrellaed drinks (these are mass produced and normally very poor quality). If you really want your picture taken with a plastic fish glass, just wait ten more minutes and use the one someone has left behind. (5) Visit the SPA. If you are lucky they might need a volunteer to show off their treatments to folks touring the facilities. Volunteers get free treatments! (6) Make sure you dont miss sail away! Be on deck for some great pictures (especially leaving Fort Lauderdale). (7) MAKE SURE YOUR CELL PHONE IS ON AIRPLANE MODE!!! I ended up with a $1000 bill on my last trip because of voicemail calls and apps downloading. You can use the smart phone to take pictures and play games - just turn it to safe mode once youre about ten minutes out of the pier.
