Cruising Amidst Giants by Nelson S.W. Chang While serenely suspended like a leaf on still blue liquid, we dined at the feet of granite giants, mountain snowcapped majesties that seemed to look down upon us with an air of royal dispensation. We held our breaths in prayer while our ship cautiously tiptoed to the Sawyer Glacier on milky white glacial waters through nature’s cathedral of narrow fjords and deep gorges. Amazed and transfixed, we were refreshed by cold salt breezes cleansed by endless ranks of evergreens and pristine wilderness. We were captive to the huge setting sun mocking its own shimmering red orange reflection on a vast glassy sea stretching to an infinite horizon. Whales breached and frolicked; Orcas and dolphins playfully skimmed on silky waters, and the heads of seals bobbed as they peeked out nervously from the water’s surface. When endless days gave flight to the cowing nights, we slept in our cabins and dreamed of what we had seen and done that day and all the beauty that God had put on this earth to inspire and invigorate us and to remind us that the famed biblical Garden of Eden is not lost. It is here with us and all around us and in plain sight on this very earth upon which we are privileged to live.
