Crumbling - Written and Read by Hank Beukema We spent it all as we went along Never looking forward or back The candles were burned from the middle to the ends Then we gradually drowned in the wax. We slow danced in the kitchen by candlelight It was the last night we were both whole Then the sickness like a shadow came upon us For you, it came and took your body, For me it kidnapped my soul. And just like the dried wax we crumbled Into tiny little pieces that blew away The world would never know we existed Without this candle I lit today. Every kiss and touch remains holy The memories refuse to even bend But what stays with me most is the crumbling And how I let us down in the end. The seasons come and go without notice I still hear your voice but no longer hear mine I know the day will come that I smile once more But, you wont be there when my eyes start to shine. Hank Beukema revbuckmanmusic 2014
