Crystal Light grew up in John Day, Oregon, her father owned a logging company. He was a large man, 6’4’ tall and 260 pounds, and his wife wouldn’t be considered small. Crystal grew up hunting and fishing with her Dad and was running a chainsaw at an early age. She was a big girl, not fat, big. She played offensive line on the boy’s football team. One day a boy was kidding her at tryouts, before her junior year but he would like to forget about it, although his friends won’t let him. He walked around for a week with a black eye. She went with her parents shopping and she saw the Army Recruiter office, and asked her parents if she could go inside. They all went in and the Recruiter asked her what she wanted to do in the Army? She said an Army Ranger. You have to have good grades to do that. How are they? There good. I can give you a short test now and see how you do. I would like that. Can I take it Dad? Sure how long? Come back in an hour. When she was done the recruiter said “you can do anything you want in the Army with the score you posted”. You can take the full test and if you do as well, I can offer you admission into the Ranger program, but you will have to pass their physical tests. Dad says “no worry”. Crystal went into the Army after graduation and was sent to basic training, then to the Army Ranger School. After graduation she was sent to active duty in Afghanistan. She saw plenty of action there. The men with her still talk about the hand to hand combat she had with a Muslim rebel. When she returned home she didn’t know what she wanted to do, but not work in her father’s business or stay in the small town of John Day. After being home a month she got a call from Brenda, a girl she met in the service. She lived with her husband Carl in Pasadena, California. They owned a jewelry store that Carl had inherited from his parents. They were both killed by a drunk driver that was going the wrong way on the freeway. Crystal moved there and met Sam a cousin of Carl’s, he also worked at the store and they spent as much time together as they could. On a Friday when Crystal came to work, Carl and Brenda told her about a couple guys that came in the store and they were nervous and said they were just looking. She told crystal what they looked like and she told Sam when he came in to work. They stay open to 10:00PM and always have two people working at night. Sam went with Crystal to the range often. She carried a 10mm Glock pistol. She kidded me because as she put it, I carried a little 9mm. Not only do they both carry a weapon but had one under the cash register and one behind each display case. Crystal would say “we won’t have time when it happens”. At 9:45 a man fitting the description walks in and wanders around. Sam says,” Can I help you”? The man says, “I am looking for a ring for my girlfriend”. Crystal pulls her gun and keeps it below the display case. Another man walks in and she knows this is it. The man says, “Can you show me that ring? Sam looks at Crystal and can see by the way she is standing, she is ready. Sure, and he walks around the display case and grabs his gun but does not lift it up. The third man walks in and yells, “this is a robbery” and the two others go for their guns. Crystal raises her pistol and starts firing, shooting the last man in first, and swinging her arm to shoot the other two. She felt a burning feeling in her upper arm. Sam had lifted his gun up and was shooting as well. Crystal emptied her 15 round magazine from about 25 feet. The men are lying in pools of blood. They might have got off a couple shots apiece. Crystal looks at Sam and says,” they ruined my shirt”. THE 2ND AMENDMENT – NO TRIAL – NO PRISON – NO APPEAL Read more Armed citizen stories ar andyrubinwrites
