Crìsdean Cuimeanach This is for the same reason that people in Scotland dont consider Scottish Americans, Scottish Canadians, Scottish Australians, etc. to be Scottish. What you are touching on here is something that I have been alluding to for months: a Taiwanese, Japanese, or Chinese person who is born in the US, Singapore, Canada, Australia, etc.. from two parents from any of those countries, is considered *without question* a person of their mother country. Why? Because what you are is no less what your ancestors were. People can see your ancestors on your face. However a person with two parents who immigrated to the US from Ireland, Scotland, abroad, is not considered Scottish. As a matter-of-fact, they run of the risk of being told that their parents are cop-outs or boomerangs. To add to this, Ive been told that a person whose mother is Taiwanese and whose father is Scottish, who was born in Taiwan, went to School in Scotland, but now lives in Shanghai, is acceptable as unquestionably Scottish. Why? Good bloody question. Needless to say this makes me incredibly angry. Its something Ive had to deal with personally, on a daily basis, for 43-years now. irishcentral/roots/why-do-the-irish-not-consider-an-irish-american-to-be-irish-214117011-237761281.html
