Cuba is taking new bold moves in order to combat the antiquated U.S. embargo. They have started a dialogue with the European Union (EU) and have approved a new foreign direct investment law. The Caribbean Community will also play a role in these agreements. They will play an enabling role with EU negotiations and the foreign investment law will strengthen relations with the other Caribbean countries. “Consistent with this policy of continuing “fraternal relations” with governments across continents, the administration in Havana is expected to promote its approved foreign investment law as well as relevant information on approaches in Cuba’s proposed new relationship with the European Union.”
